War veterans honored in Fergana
As part of implementing the Head of State’s resolution “On measures to prepare and hold May 9 – the Day of Remembrance and Honor”, events are being held in Fergana region to honor war participants and labor front veterans.
Fergana region Hokim Khayrullo Bozorov visited the homes of war veterans Fatina Sharipova, Vera Vyalseva, and Larisa Sharova in Fergana. The meetings were attended by representatives of the Eastern Military District, law enforcement agencies, and the older generation.
The veterans were read a holiday greeting from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and presented with one-time cash rewards and gifts.
During the conversations, the veterans’ life journeys and the hardships of the war years were discussed. Fatina Sharipova spent her childhood in a fascist concentration camp and, after the war, worked in the education sector for many years.
Vera Vyalseva, who celebrated her 100th anniversary, is a survivor of the Siege of Leningrad and worked in various fields in the postwar years, including the film industry.
Larisa Sharova expressed gratitude for a peaceful life and noted the prevailing atmosphere of kindness, compassion, unity, and solidarity in Uzbekistan.
The veterans expressed appreciation for the attention and care shown to representatives of the older generation and to war participants.
