Uzbekistan’s tourism potential showcased in Cairo
An event titled “Umrah Plus Tourism: Strategic tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt” was held in Cairo to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in the Egyptian market.
The event was organized by the Umrah Plus International Tourism Association (UPITA), the Tourism Committee, and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Egypt. It brought together representatives of Egyptian government agencies, tour operators, specialized agencies, and the media.

The main focus was on promoting Uzbekistan not only as a pilgrimage tourism destination but also as an attractive country for mountain and winter tourism, gastronomic experiences, and agritourism. Participants also discussed strengthening partnerships between tourism companies in the two countries and measures to increase the number of Egyptian tourists visiting Uzbekistan.

As part of the event, a presentation titled “Uzbekistan: mountains, snow and flavors” showcased opportunities for winter recreation and skiing, Zaamin National Park, the Aydar-Arnasay lake system, natural attractions in Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions, as well as traditional Uzbek cuisine and handicrafts.
Egyptian tour operators were offered two itineraries. The eight-day “Mountains, Flavors and Heritage” tour covers Tashkent, Chimgan – Charvak, the Fergana Valley, and Samarkand. The seven-day “Nature and Flavors” itinerary includes Amirsoy, Zaamin, Aydarkul, and Samarkand.
Following the meeting, proposals were made to organize familiarization trips for Egyptian tour operators and journalists, hold joint marketing events and B2B meetings, and prepare promotional and informational materials in Arabic.
In addition, the Egyptian Tourism Federation, Dahab Group, Best Control, and the Umrah Plus International Tourism Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding to attract Egyptian tourists to Uzbekistan.
