For the first time in the history of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Serbia, a ceremony was held to present credentials by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to this country. Ambassador Oybek Shakhavdinov, with a residence in Budapest, presented his credentials to the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.
During the conversation that followed the official ceremony, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Serbia. The Serbian Leader highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts to expand its diplomatic presence in Southeastern Europe and expressed interest in developing bilateral cooperation.
Special attention was paid to the possibilities of increasing cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian, and educational spheres. The willingness to intensify interstate and business contacts, expand the legal framework, and support joint initiatives was emphasized.
The parties noted the high potential in the industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and labor migration, as well as the complementary nature of the economies of the two countries, which creates favorable conditions for the implementation of joint projects involving the private sector.
Appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary in March 2024, Oybek Shakhavdinov is also accredited in Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia, reflecting Tashkent’s policy of deepening cooperation with the countries of Southeastern Europe.
