For the first time in the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan with residence in Tokyo, Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.

A guard of honor accompanied the solemn ceremony, the performance of the national anthem of Uzbekistan, and the raising of the national flag of the country.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, educational, and in the field of tourism.

The President of Fiji noted the friendly nature of relations based on mutual respect and stressed the strategic importance of Uzbekistan, which is rich in natural resources and human potential. He praised Tashkent’s active foreign policy aimed at ensuring peace and sustainable development in the region.

The Head of State called the appointment of the First Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Fiji a significant historical event, expressing gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for his attention to strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties.

Following the meeting, the President of Fiji expressed deep respect and conveyed sincere greetings to the Leader of Uzbekistan, as well as wishes for peace and prosperity to the people of Uzbekistan.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Fiji were established on June 16, 2010. Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov has been heading the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Japan since September 2021.
