On June 23, 2020, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) organized the meeting of Turkey – Uzbekistan Business Council via videoconference.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Ikramov, Co-chair of Turkey – Uzbekistan Business Council Izzet Ekmekçibaşı, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mehmet Süreyya Er, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Turkey Alisher Agzamkhojayev, as well as relevant ministries, agencies and businesspeople of the two countries.

Issues of developing and expanding bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation in the current year were discussed during the talks.

In turn, the Turkish side highly appreciated the pace of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan over the past three years and the country’s activity in expanding trade-economic relations with foreign countries.

Following the event, it was noted that great importance will be given to the sixth round of negotiations on the Agreement on Preferential Trade between Uzbekistan and Turkey, which is scheduled for July this year. The signing of the Agreement is in the interests of both countries and it will become one of the most important tools for achieving common goals in investment and trade growth between the two countries.
