Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov has met with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Qatar Sultan Bin Rashid Al Khater, in Doha.

The parties discussed issues of developing trade relations, implementing industrial cooperation projects, as well as holding joint economic events.

Sultan Bin Rashid Al Khater confirmed that the Qatari side is interested in enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan in trade and industry. In this context, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Qatar is ready to act as a kind of bridge for the development of bilateral trade and economic relations. It was noted that the establishment of direct flights between Doha and Tashkent will also serve to increase the trade turnover.

The Qatari side expressed interest in working out joint investment projects, first of all, for the production of food products and ensuring food security, participation in the development of the tourism infrastructure of Uzbekistan.

The parties reached agreements on preparations for a meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, on intensifying direct contacts between the businesspeople of the two countries.
