The draft law “On the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage (Vienna, May 21, 1963)” was discussed at a session of the lower house of parliament.

“Accession to the Vienna Convention provides internationally recognized legal mechanisms for compensation of damages, strengthens the protection of victims, defines clear obligations for operators of nuclear facilities, and establishes reliable financial guarantees for compensating possible damages”, noted Deputy Dilbar Mamajonova. “This will increase confidence in the national nuclear safety system, strengthen international cooperation, and ensure compliance with modern standards in nuclear liability”.
