Uzbekistan has chosen a path to ensure openness, freedom of speech, and access to information, while also transforming the media into the “fourth estate”. This reflects the crucial role of mass media in shaping public consciousness and ideology.
It is undeniable that the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA), alongside other publications, makes a significant contribution to the timely coverage of the country’s domestic and foreign policies and the large-scale reforms and transformations taking place in society.
Today, UzA, as the official state news source, delivers information in a convenient and engaging format, promptly and accurately covering events in Uzbekistan and around the world in Uzbek, Russian, English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Kazakh, and Chinese.
As is known, on February 5, 1992, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Agency was reorganized into the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA).
According to the resolution of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev “On measures for the further improvement of the activities of the Uzbekistan National News Agency”, issued on December 2, 2019, UzA serves as the official news agency for disseminating socio-political information about the country’s developments. As part of this directive, the agency’s operations have been enhanced.
Today, UzA maintains established partnerships with approximately 20 news agencies and leading publications worldwide. It is an active member of the Alliance of Turkic News Agencies (ATNA), the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (Inform Council), and the Union of OIC News Agencies.
According to an analysis by Brand Analytics, a leading media monitoring system in the CIS, UzA’s website ranked among the top three most cited publications in Uzbekistan in the third quarter of last year.
Juan Manuel Fonrouge, Chief Executive Officer of Latin America News Agency (LANA):

– The modern era of globalization presents media organizations with the challenge of further developing cooperation with leading global news agencies, establishing regular information exchanges, and promptly providing the public with objective and truthful reports on world events.
Uzbekistan has rapidly strengthened friendly relations with foreign countries in recent years through its well-thought-out, mutually beneficial, and pragmatic foreign policy. We have also established close cooperation with UzA and signed a memorandum on news exchange. I must emphasize that this was an essential step in building a partnership with the Central Asian region. I follow UzA’s articles published in Spanish. Through these materials, the agency disseminates news about Uzbekistan to the Spanish-speaking world as a reliable source.
UzA’s articles provide our readers with information not only about events in Uzbekistan but also across the entire Central Asian region.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to sincerely congratulate the creative team of the Uzbekistan National News Agency, which has a proud history, on this special occasion.

In recent years, we have observed that, alongside the revival of national, historical, and religious values in Uzbekistan, the role of the media and the importance of creative professionals have significantly increased.
It is gratifying to see that your country is nurturing a new generation of journalists – well-informed about global events, fluent in foreign languages, and equipped with modern digital technologies.
