Tashkent hosted Uzbekistan – Kuwait Intergovernmental Commission meeting on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov from the Uzbek side, and the Minister of Finance, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investments Noora Sulaiman Al-Fassam from the Kuwaiti side.

The parties discussed trade-economic and investment partnership between the countries and identified measures to strengthen cooperation.

The possibilities of applying tax and customs privileges, access to raw materials, and engineering communications for Kuwaiti companies in Uzbekistan FEZs were considered. An agreement was reached on the development of an Industrial Cooperation Program and an agreement on bilateral investment agreements. Joint positions have been developed to expand cooperation in the banking and financial sectors, agriculture, tourism, transport, logistics, environmental protection, and the Kuwaiti companies’ participation in Uzbekistan’s privatization.

Following the event, a Memorandum on trade facilitation and the Protocol of the First Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission were signed. It was noted that the signed documents open up new prospects for the development of partnership in priority sectors of the economy of both states, creating opportunities for mutual growth.
