Uzbekistan expands cooperation with leading cultural institutions of France
In Paris, the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation continued its work to strengthen international cultural cooperation and to prepare for the Bukhara Biennial 2027. As part of the program, talks were held with the leadership of the Centre Pompidou, a public discussion on the next edition of the Biennial, and a meeting of its Advisory Board.
During the visit, Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, met with Laurent Le Bon, President of the Centre Pompidou. Following the meeting, the parties signed a Cooperation Agreement to develop a long-term partnership. The parties also agreed to hold an exhibition at the Centre Pompidou to introduce an international audience to Uzbekistan’s art and cultural heritage.

The public discussion of the upcoming 2027 edition of the Bukhara Biennial, held at Lafayette Anticipations, was another program highlight. The Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain also hosted a meeting of the Biennial’s Advisory Board to prepare for the 2027 Project.

The Foundation’s work aims to expand partnerships with the world’s leading cultural organizations, develop international dialogue, and increase interest in Uzbekistan’s cultural legacy. These initiatives are being implemented as part of the course towards developing international cultural cooperation initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The meetings in Paris marked another step toward preparing for the 2027 Bukhara Biennial and strengthening Uzbekistan’s standing in the international cultural arena.
