Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has held virtual talks with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, within the framework of the dialogue, the progress of the implementation of a number of projects in energy, housing and communal services, ecology and the private sector, totaling more than 1 billion euros, was considered. The parties exchanged views on the possibilities of accelerating the implementation of these projects, as well as on promising mechanisms for interaction to overcome the negative impact of the pandemic on the economy of Uzbekistan.

The sides also discussed practical aspects related to the projects being worked out jointly with the EBRD in Uzbekistan, and priority areas for further expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Issues of financing projects in the private sector were discussed separately, which, according to the President of the Bank, is an extremely attractive and promising area for the EBRD in cooperation with Uzbekistan.

Following the talks, loan agreements worth $150 million were signed.
