Uzbekistan delegation studies Spain’s best practices in forestry
A delegation of representatives from Uzbekistan’s forestry sector studied advanced practical experience in sustainable forest management, climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation in the Spanish city of Palencia.
The delegation included Deputy FAO Representative in Uzbekistan Sherzod Umarov, Project Coordinator Azizbek Abdumukhtorov, and representatives of the Agency for Afforestation and Expansion of Green Areas and Combating Desertification.
As part of the program, the delegation reviewed projects, field practices, and modern management methods used in the forests of Palencia. The participants studied silvicultural principles and ways to enhance the resilience of forest ecosystems amid climate change.

Members of the Uzbekistan delegation also became familiar with tree-marking practices.

Particular attention was given to engineering solutions to prevent soil erosion and ensure the hydrological resilience of forest ecosystems.
