National Geographic Traveler summed up the results of the Awards 2019.

The solemn event, which was held at President Hotel in Moscow, was attended by representatives of largest travel companies, publishers, PR agencies, media, culture and art figures.

The publication annually conducts online voting among readers for the best tourist destinations among the most popular types of recreation. This year the contest was held from June 29 to October 31 in 24 main nominations. More than 450 thousand people voted. Uzbekistan won the “Discovery of the Year” nomination, with 40 percent of the total number of votes. Armenia, Oman, Taiwan and Romania competed for the championship in this category.

The award was solemnly presented to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov.

Uzbekistan won the “Gastronomic Tourism” nomination at National Geographic Traveler Awards in 2018, with 34 percent of readers’ votes.
