Director of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation, Akmal Jumanazarov, met with U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henick.
It was emphasized that standardization and technical regulation issues are of particular importance in the development of trade-economic ties.
It was noted that during the business trip of the Agency's working group to the United States, meetings were held with representatives of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Trade Administration (ITA), Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE), Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, as well as companies Pangea, IBM and Caterpillar Inc. The practical results of the meetings were discussed.

During the talks, the sides exchanged views on the opening of the FDA’s regional office in Tashkent, the elimination of technical barriers to trade, the expansion of textile exports to the U.S. market, the development of quantum metrology, and strengthening cooperation in artificial intelligence and personnel training.
Special attention was paid to popularizing the application of international and American standards, aligning national legislation with WTO agreements and rules, and organizing training events.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to expand cooperation and consistently implement projects and initiatives.
