Uzbekistan and the UN to strengthen cooperation in combating drugs and transnational crime
A meeting took place at the Agency for Control of Narcotics and Firearms of Uzbekistan, involving representatives from the UNODC Regional Office for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan.
The meeting focused on current issues regarding cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNODC in combating drug trafficking and transnational crime.
The parties reviewed plans for events to be jointly organized with Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, scheduled for September 26 to October 2 this year in Abu Dhabi.

The parties discussed holding the 58th session of the UN Subcommission on Illicit Drug Traffic and Related Matters in Uzbekistan this November, focusing on the Near and Middle East.
The meeting also covered activities planned for the project phase on countering illicit drug trafficking through strengthened coordination and enhanced capacity of Interagency Mobile Teams.
The parties highlighted the need for ongoing collaboration in the specified areas, sharing experiences, and successfully carrying out practical projects.
