Uzbekistan and the Poti New Terminal Consortium discuss expanding transport cooperation

Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilhom Mahkamov met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Poti New Terminal Consortium Tamaz Chkhikvishvili and President of the consortium David Chikvaidze.

During the talks, the head of the Transport Ministry emphasized the strategic importance for Uzbekistan of developing the international North-South and East-West transport corridors. Particular attention was paid to the Middle Corridor passing through Georgia, where the Port of Poti is considered a key link in the logistics chain.

President of the consortium, David Chikvaidze, highly assessed the level of cooperation between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, and expressed Poti New Terminals’ readiness to implement the strategic agreements reached in practice.

Tamaz Chkhikvishvili noted the Georgian side’s interest in expanding cooperation with Uzbek shippers and business community representatives.
