Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka expand export and investment ties
During its visit to Uzbekistan, a Sri Lankan delegation, led by Aruni Ranaraja, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, held a meeting at the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The parties discussed expanding trade and economic ties, attracting investment, developing direct contacts among entrepreneurs, and implementing joint projects.
During the meeting, it was noted that cooperation between the two countries is reaching a new level. Tourism, the textile industry, information technology, pharmaceuticals, agricultural processing, and the service sector were identified as priority areas.
The initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka was also supported. The document will help strengthen business ties and expand the organization of joint business forums and B2B meetings.
Sri Lanka welcomed Uzbekistan’s entrepreneurs to join the Sri Lanka Expo 2027, an international event aimed at forming new partnerships and increasing export opportunities.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue their efforts to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
