At the fourteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Law “On Ratification of the Extradition Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Samarkand, August 26, 2025)” was discussed.
Speaking at the meeting on this issue, Odiljon Mamatkarimov, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Ties, Foreign Investments, and Tourism, mentioned that the document governs how the parties cooperate regarding the extradition of individuals who have committed crimes to ensure they face criminal charges.
The agreement outlines a list of offenses that may serve as grounds for extradition, as well as the conditions for denying extradition, the procedures for pre-trial detention, and special rules for extradited individuals.
The senators emphasized that this law aims to strengthen Uzbekistan’s international cooperation in fighting transnational crime, terrorism, and organized crime.
