Uzbekistan and Georgia to build on positive trends in bilateral cooperation
On the sidelines of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, currently underway in Arusha, Tanzania, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili.
The participants paid particular attention to giving interparliamentary cooperation greater practical substance. They held a detailed exchange of views on facilitating the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, improving the legal framework, and making effective use of parliamentary oversight mechanisms.
Accordingly, a proposal was made to develop a joint roadmap for interparliamentary cooperation.

The parties emphasized the importance of regular contact between relevant committees in key areas and agreed to hold working meetings alternately in Uzbekistan and Georgia to keep current bilateral issues under continuous review.
Transport and logistics cooperation was one of the central topics of the talks. It was noted that leveraging the potential of Georgian seaports and strengthening transport integration would directly help expand trade ties.
Particular emphasis was also placed on diversifying investment cooperation and on supporting business initiatives to create new jobs and ensure long-term employment opportunities for young people.
Following the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cultural, humanitarian, and tourism ties.
