Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan sign a roadmap to expand cooperation in the energy sector
On September 17, Baku hosted a meeting between the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Khodjayev and the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov.
The parties reviewed the progress of the tasks set at the meeting of the two heads of state in August this year, as well as the prospects for expanding the strategic partnership in the energy sector. The parties exchanged views on the development and implementation of new projects and on cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
Special emphasis was placed on the electric power industry, renewable energy sources, the development of the Central Asia – Azerbaijan green energy corridor, geological exploration, oil and petroleum product supplies, and the execution of joint oil refining projects.
Following the negotiations, the Energy Ministries signed a roadmap to enhance collaboration in the energy sector for 2026-2028.
The document identifies priority tasks, including the implementation of the green energy corridor project, the development of hydrocarbon exploration and production, and the supply of oil and petroleum products. The expansion of SOCAR’s activities in Uzbekistan has also been designated a key area of cooperation.
