Uzbek startups will have new chances to access international markets
Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, met with Pedro Santos Vieira, Managing Partner at 500 Global.
The meeting focused on developing Uzbekistan’s startup ecosystem, increasing venture capital investment, helping local startups enter international markets, and coordinating ongoing initiatives.
Representatives from 500 Global discussed their experience in the Uzbekistan market, highlighting their investments in technology companies and startups since 2021-2022. These include ventures founded by Uzbekistan entrepreneurs as well as those established by foreign founders working in the country. They showed interest in developing programs to help Uzbek startups access international investment markets and increasing their collaboration with foreign investors.

The company’s representatives also described their long-term strategy to collaborate with startups at various stages of development in Central Asia.
Efforts focused on creating favorable conditions for venture capital funds, increasing investment inflows, and boosting the performance of international funds active in Uzbekistan.

The parties also talked about ways to strengthen and expand support mechanisms for artificial intelligence startups, aiming to make them more attractive to investors.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to keep working together to systematically develop Uzbekistan’s startup ecosystem, improve conditions for venture capital investment, and support domestic tech companies in entering international markets.
