Within the framework of the exhibition of Uzbek suzani titled “Harmonious Worlds”, a roundtable discussion with the participation of Uzbek embroidery masters was held at the QGalerie exhibition hall in the German capital. The event was organized for German connoisseurs of decorative and applied arts.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere imbued with Uzbek culture and national traditions. German artists and cultural figures, students of Humboldt University of Berlin, and members of the general public interested in the folk crafts and applied arts of the East gathered around a traditional Uzbek dastarkhan. The informal format of the meeting encouraged open and substantive dialogue.
The program’s key event was an online meeting with renowned Bukhara embroidery master, entrepreneur, and member of the Bukhara regional branch of Uzbekistan’s Hunarmand Association, Shakhnoza Sharipova. In her presentation, she spoke in detail about the history of Uzbek embroidery and suzani, the regional schools and styles that developed across the country, and the centuries-old artistic traditions and creative potential of the Uzbek people, vividly embodied in these works of art.
In addition, the event featured a practical suzani embroidery masterclass organized by compatriots Zaynab Rasulova and Nilufar Sattarova. To visually demonstrate the embroidery process, kurpacha quilts were laid out around a traditional khontakhta, and guests were treated to an engaging presentation on Uzbek customs, the culture of hospitality, and dastarkhan traditions.
