Tulips from “Polmon”
In Quvasoy, residents of the citizens’ assembly of the “Polmon” mahalla, near the Kyrgyzstan border, are known for their horticultural accomplishments.
One of the active members of the mahalla, labor veteran Mamanboy Maksitov, makes good use of his household plot: on 14 acres, he grows Dutch tulips. In the fall, he sells tulip bulbs, and in the spring, flowers. Demand for them is growing every year.
“We grow red, yellow, and pink tulips and plan to start cultivating white ones as well”, says experienced farmer Mamanboy Maksitov. “We sell the flowers not only within the region but also in neighboring Kyrgyzstan. We also grow apples, pears, sweet cherries, and are engaged in beekeeping”.
Mamanboy Maksitov shares his experience with many residents of the mahalla. For them, growing Dutch tulips is also becoming a reliable source of income.
