The UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, met with the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) during his visit to Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, Ombudsman Feruza Eshmatova spoke about the reforms implemented in human rights protection.

The Authorized Person under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Protection of the Rights and Legitimate Interests of Entrepreneurs and representatives of the Children’s Ombudsman also shared their opinions at the meeting.

Mr. Balakrishnan Rajagopal highly praised the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan to strengthen the legal framework for protecting citizens’ rights to housing, especially noting the separate role of the Ombudsman institution in this matter.
