
The Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence and Riga Graduate School of Law, conducted a training for media representatives, bloggers, press secretaries, and students with the participation of domestic and international experts.
The primary purpose of the training is to increase the knowledge and potential of media representatives, as well as awareness and skills in investigative journalism, to eliminate corruption.
At the opening of the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Uzbekistan Reinis Trokša, Executive Director of the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence Gunta Sloga, and Head of the Press Service of the Anti-Corruption Agency Sherzod Saparov emphasized the important role of the media in the fight against corruption and its prevention.
The participants were provided with detailed information about the basics of investigative journalism, its role in detecting corruption cases, and specific mechanisms for preventing corruption and fostering integrity through the media and the Internet.
International experts shared their experience complying with legal requirements and professional ethics when collecting, using, analyzing, and presenting information to the public to prepare materials on corruption.
The participants received answers to questions and exchanged views on the guarantees available to representatives of the field when conducting investigative journalism, the protection of journalists, the main aspects that should be paid attention to when conducting investigations, as well as the use of artificial intelligence capabilities in the preparation of journalistic materials about corruption.
The correct analysis and interpretation of facts and ensuring objectivity and transparency in conducting investigative journalism were considered based on various practical tasks and cases.
