As part of the working visit to Baku, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund Mafalda Duarte.

The issues of further strengthening cooperation in implementing joint projects and programs on adaptation to climate change and mitigation of its consequences were discussed.

A high assessment was given to the support provided by the fund for the development of the potential of specialized organizations of Uzbekistan and the development of national adaptation plans.

Currently, the portfolio of joint projects is $160 million and covers such priority areas as water resources management, development of green energy, green financing and several others. In addition, two regional projects worth $5 billion and three national projects worth $500 million are being developed.

An agreement was reached to enhance the partnership, including implementing programs on innovative landscaping and sustainable land management and improving the socio-ecological situation in the Aral Sea region.
