On June 9, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received Dilma Rousseff, President of the BRICS New Development Bank, who arrived in the country to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
The meeting focused on developing practical cooperation with this multilateral financial institution.

The consistent implementation of the agreements reached on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in October last year was noted with satisfaction.
In particular, the Bank’s Board of Governors has given in-principle approval for Uzbekistan to join the New Development Bank member countries. A program of priority joint projects totaling $5 billion has been formed.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of expediting the preparation and implementation of projects in such priority areas as the modernization of irrigation systems, the development of the mining industry, the financing of the private sector, and the promotion of public-private partnership projects in education and infrastructure.
Support was also expressed for the implementation of major regional infrastructure projects.
