The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry of Afghanistan, Nooruddin Azizi, who is participating in the events of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

The Minister conveyed the sincere greetings of the Afghan leadership to the President of Uzbekistan.

Issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economy, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, geological exploration, and the extraction of mineral resources were discussed.

The intensification of business contacts was noted with satisfaction. Trade volumes and the number of joint ventures are growing, and business missions and exhibitions involving companies from both countries are held regularly. The International Trade Center in the city of Termez is operating successfully. In May this year, trade houses were opened in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of further strengthening the legal and regulatory framework for economic and investment cooperation.

The necessity of accelerating the construction of the “Hairatan” Industrial Center was also noted, including establishing production facilities for pharmaceuticals, furniture, textiles, construction materials, and agricultural processing.

Support was expressed for implementing major regional infrastructure projects, such as constructing the Trans-Afghan Railway and the Surkhan –  Pul-i-Khumri power transmission line.
