On January 16, 2024, a protocol on cooperation on mutual exemption from entry visas between the governments of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE.

According to the document, Uzbekistan citizens are exempt from visa requirements while staying in the UAE for a period not exceeding 30 days.

For reference, 119.45 thousand Uzbekistan citizens visited the UAE in 2023. They spent $9.2 million on visa processing.

The protocol of intergovernmental cooperation was signed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the UAE Abdulaziz Akkulov and the Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khaled Abdullah Belhoul.

The document will officially enter into force on February 16, 2024.

With the signing of the protocol, the number of visa-free countries for citizens of Uzbekistan increased to 29 and raised Uzbekistan to 71st place in the Global Passport Power ranking.
