Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Portuguese Republic with residence in Paris, Nodir Ganiyev, presented his credentials to the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The awarding ceremony took place at the Belém Palace. During the conversation, which took place within the framework of the official event, the President of Portugal highly appreciated the current state and prospects of bilateral relations between Portugal and Uzbekistan. Special attention was paid to developing political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa congratulated the Ambassador on starting his diplomatic mission and wished him success in strengthening partnership relations between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Portugal were established on August 12, 1992.

On September 17, 2024, Nodir Ganiyev presented his credentials to the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
