The legacy of Abu Rayhon Beruni will be deeply studied at the international level

Uzbekistan was the cradle of scientists, educators, and intellectuals who contributed considerably to developing world civilization. Many of our ancestors left behind a rich scientific heritage. Its study is an essential task of the present generation.

On August 25 this year, the Head of state signed a resolution “On supporting the establishment of the UNESCO – Uzbekistan International Award named after Abu Rayhon Beruni”.

This resolution plays a vital role in the in-depth study and comprehensive promotion at the international level of the scientific and enlightenment heritage of the great thinker, scientist-encyclopedist Abu Rayhon Beruni and the rise of inclusive and cultural diversity in artificial intelligence.

The document outlines several activities that are a logical continuation of the goals and objectives outlined in the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the wide international celebration of the 1050th anniversary of the great thinker and scientist-encyclopedist Abu Rayhon Beruni’s birth” of August 25, 2022.

The resolution established the UNESCO – Uzbekistan International Award named after Abu Rayhon Beruni. According to reports, the UNESCO awards of Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Russia, Greece, Korea, China, and Oman have been established so far. 

– Abu Rayhon Beruni is known worldwide, – says Bahrom Abdukhalimov, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Political Council of the SDP “Adolat”. – The celebration of the 1050th anniversary of Abu Rayhon Beruni’s birth, together with UNESCO, inspires us. It also encourages us to take a worthy part in this process. This resolution of the Head of our state has become a logical continuation of the celebration of the 1050th anniversary of Abu Rayhon Beruni’s birth. It serves as a deep study of the scientific heritage of Beruni, broad support for scientists studying his heritage, and specialists engaged in research in artificial intelligence. Also, the activities outlined in the resolution further strengthen Uzbekistan's image in the international arena.

The Resolution of the President “On supporting the establishment of the UNESCO – Uzbekistan International Award named after Abu Rayhon Beruni” plays an essential role in the in-depth study, research, and comprehensive promotion of the scientific and enlightenment heritage of Abu Rayhon Beruni, assisting researchers studying his rich scientific heritage, as well as further enhancing scientific -cultural relations between Uzbekistan and UNESCO.

The document also provides for holding an international exhibition and events dedicated to the life and work of Abu Rayhon Beruni on September 4-8, 2023, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.
