On September 17 this year, a meeting was held in Vienna between the Director of the Atomic Energy Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Azim Akhmedkhodjayev and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi.
As reported by the Agency, the parties discussed important aspects of the development of nuclear energy in Uzbekistan at the meeting, including the reorganization of the Uzatom Agency and the construction of a small-capacity nuclear power plant (SPP).
The parties also discussed plans to hold joint events with the IAEA dedicated to nuclear technologies, including small modular reactors. These events will demonstrate the international significance of technologies and attract the interest of other states.
Active preparations are underway for the visit of the IAEA Director General to the Republic of Uzbekistan to successfully hold meetings and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
