“The Great Eastern Renaissance” – an international Olympiad for educated youth
To ensure the implementation of the tasks set out in the relevant resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of September 30, 2024, the International Olympiad “The Great Eastern Renaissance” is being held in Tashkent in cooperation with the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Center for Subject Olympiads, and other organizations.
The Olympiad covers the fields of history, geography, literature, and art and aims to test knowledge of the lives and scientific heritage of the great scholars who lived and worked in Central Asia during the 9th-16th centuries, as well as the region’s unique historical monuments.
The Olympiad is attended by 50 participants from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Teams of school students aged 14 to 18 from each country are taking part in the competition, accompanied by experienced mentors. The competition is also being observed by highly qualified experts, scholars, and professors from foreign countries.
The Olympiad is held in two stages. At the first stage, participants prepare in-depth analytical and creative written works on the writings and scientific heritage of Eastern scholars. At the second stage, they present a scientific and practical analysis of historical monuments.
The winning teams receive gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with certificates. Trips to Uzbekistan’s historic cities and cultural heritage sites are also organized for the participants.
The main goal of this international Olympiad is to widely promote the enormous contributions of Central Asian scholars to the development of world science, strengthen the spirit of interethnic harmony and tolerance among young people, and popularize our rich cultural and spiritual heritage internationally.
This prestigious intellectual competition is held every two years and contributes to the in-depth study of the heritage of Eastern scholars and to its promotion on a global scale.
