The Jizzakh Regional Branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology (RSSPMCOG), which equipped with modern medical equipment, is considered to be one of the leading medical institutions of the region, whose activities are focused on maternal and child health.

As part of the “Safe Motherhood” program recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) in institution, which seats 170 people, is born about 3 million babies each year. The use of modern medical technologies in the treatment and prevention work serves to ensure safe childbirth.

The modern perinatal technologies, recommended by the World Health Organization have been introduced to the medical institution. Methods of effective perinatal care, emergency obstetric care, the integration of children's diseases, breast-feeding and neonatal resuscitation are effectively used.

Achieved successes in the branch recognized by international organizations. For example, UNICEF has recognized the medical institution as a “Hospital, using all the principles of breastfeeding”, branch won the title of the“Baby-Friendly Medical Institution”.

Each year, several doctors of medical facility attend training courses in the major domestic and foreign research centers. The branch serves as educational and practical base for doctors of maternity hospitals in the area. There is a regular training of obstetricians of cities and regional medical associations, general practitioners and midwives.

Conducted last year, training seminars on the theme of “Neonatal Resuscitation”, “Effective Perinatal Technologies”, “Emergency Obstetric Care”, “Evaluation of the quality of care provided to mothers and children in maternity institutions”, and “Care for the sick newborn and explore the use of neonatal equipment” serve to increase efficiency of the work.
