The 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities kicks off in Samarkand
The first round of the 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities has begun at the Silk Road Samarkand Tourist Complex.
Komil Sindarov, Vice President of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, and Akaki Iashvili, Special Tasks Director of the FIDE Management Board and technical delegate of the Olympiad for People with Disabilities, opened the event.
The competition is attended by 205 chess players on 41 teams from 31 countries. Three teams from Uzbekistan are defending the country’s honor.
In the first round, Uzbekistan’s representatives are playing against the national teams of Uganda, India, and Venezuela.
The championships include 7 rounds and will run through September 18.
