The next 41st General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan was held. The event was attended by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, head of the department at the Presidential Administration Odil Abdurakhmanov, Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov, Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Otabek Umarov, members of the General Assembly, as well as responsible persons of federations and associations.

The leadership of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan was reorganized at the meeting.

The event was chaired by NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov, who emphasized that, in accordance with the Committee’s Charter, the NOC’s leadership is reorganized in each Olympic cycle.

It should be noted that on May 23, 2022, the President instructed the Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov to coordinate the activities of the NOC of Uzbekistan. At the event, Mr. Ikramov presented a report on the work carried out within the framework of the past Olympic cycle, the NOC reports. 

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan noted the success achieved, but also drew attention to unrealized opportunities and criticized the federations that did not achieve the expected results.

After that, other issues on the agenda were considered. First, a new head of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan was elected.

Speaking about this position, Mr. Aripov, taking into account the need for comprehensive preparation for the LA 2028 Summer Olympics, the request of the many thousands of Olympic families of the country, athletes, and coaches, nominated the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev Shavkat Miromonovich. All delegates unanimously approved the candidacy, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev was elected Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

The composition of the committee’s deputy chairpersons was also formed. Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia Otabek Umarov was elected First Deputy Chairman, Oybek Kasimov was re-elected Secretary General, and Sherzod Tashmatov was elected the NOC Deputy Chairman.

The renewed charter of the NOC was approved at the event, concluding the 41st General Assembly of the NOC of Uzbekistan.
