The First Uzbekistan – Malaysia Educational Forum on “Opportunities and initiatives in higher education to achieve sustainable development goals”, held as part of the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Malaysia, was also attended by heads of higher education institutions in Samarkand.
In particular, the leadership of Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages and the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage provided information on the activities of these institutions, training and research work. Presentations and exhibitions devoted to the tourism potential of Samarkand have been held.


During the forum, agreements were reached on cooperation with higher education institutions in Malaysia.

In particular, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages and the Sultan Idris Education University of Malaysia. In accordance with the agreements, it is planned to start implementing exchange programs for teachers and students from the 2025/2026 academic year. It is also planned to organize educational and tourist summer schools for students from Malaysia on the basis of the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages.
