Samarkand International Airport continues to demonstrate impressive growth in passenger traffic. Based on the results of the first half of 2024, it rose to second place in the rating of the European division of the Airports Council International (ACI Europe) in the medium-sized airports category.
The volume of passenger traffic during this period increased by an impressive 191.6 percent compared to the pre-pandemic 2019. This figure is the second highest among airports, with passenger traffic from 1 to 10 million people annually.
Since October 2022, Samarkand Airport has been demonstrating stable growth for the 22nd month in a row. In July 2024, the volume of passenger traffic reached 117 thousand people, which is 51 percent more compared to July 2023. In the first six months of 2024, a record number of 647 thousand passengers passed through the airport, which is 47 percent more than the same period in 2023. This result is evidence of continuous development, high quality of service, and comfort.
Currently, Air Marakanda, which operates the new terminal of Samarkand International Airport, cooperates with 21 airlines. Flights are carried out on 18 routes, 17 of which are international.
