Samarkand hosts the Third “Navruz Regatta” International Festival
The third “Navruz Regatta” International Festival, traditionally organized under the noble idea “To honor Navruz is to honor humanity”, was held at the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourist Center.
The event was organized by Samarkand International Technology University in cooperation with Northeast Electric Power University of the People’s Republic of China, the Silk Road Samarkand Center, and Stekloplastik LLC.
The most anticipated part of the festival was the ceremonial sailing of a dragon boat on the water basin of the complex. The combination of this sport with ancient traditions sparked great interest not only among our compatriots but also among foreign tourists. The lively movements on the water and the spirit of teamwork vividly reflected the vibrant energy of spring.
During the festive celebrations, traditional games and competitions of the Uzbek, Chinese, and Korean peoples, theatrical performances, and a kite show took place.
The preparation of sumalak and pilaf was arranged, and guests enjoyed traditional Eastern dishes.
Held for the third time on a traditional basis, this project has evolved from just a sports and entertainment event into a key platform that fosters interethnic friendship and international cooperation.
