Samarkand hosts the First International Sister Cities Forum.

The event was organized by the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries, under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with the Twin Cities Alliance and the Hokimiyat of Samarkand region.

Senior officials from Uzbekistan’s ministries and agencies, as well as representatives from international organizations, local and foreign experts, twin city leaders, business community members, and public organizations, are taking part in the event.

The Forum opened with the international scientific-practical conference titled “Sister cities – a new model of sustainable development and public diplomacy”.

Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries Qahramon Sariyev and Hokim of the region Adiz Boboyev spoke at the opening of the conference.

It was highlighted that the forum will support the growth of trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian relations, as well as the execution of joint projects in tourism and other fields. Cities are evolving into key hubs for economic development, investment, innovation, tourism, and cultural exchange. The event’s goal is to promote public diplomacy and enhance mutual trust and friendship.

The event will feature B2B and B2G meetings, investment pitches, exhibitions, and the signing of cooperation agreements.
