Rome hosted the Second Forum of Rectors of Universities of Uzbekistan and Italy. Along with the discussion of cooperation in the higher education system, the event enabled the signing of more than 20 agreements to expand cooperation through specific mechanisms.
The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kongratbay Sharipov, and the Minister of University and Research of Italy, Anna Maria Bernini, attended the event’s opening.

As noted, cooperation in the fields of education and science has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years, as evidenced by the successful activities of the branches of Turin Polytechnic University and Pisa University in Tashkent.
Over the past two years, more than 100 professors and teachers have completed internships in Italy, and over 750 students are studying Italian. This indicates that the partnership is primarily focused on developing human capital.

During the sessions and meetings within the framework of the forum, special attention was paid to expanding interuniversity relations, launching joint master’s and doctoral programs, and intensifying academic exchanges.
In particular, it was noted that about 30 joint projects have been implemented under the Erasmus+ program.

More than 300 Uzbekistan students are currently studying at Italian universities. The need for further development of the established links was pointed out.
Results-based cooperation is being established across priority areas such as engineering, artificial intelligence, medicine, agriculture, tourism, fashion, and design.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Kongratbay Sharipov, met with a group of Uzbekistan students studying at various universities in Italy.
During the sincere dialogue, the learning process, living conditions, scientific research, and students’ plans were discussed. The Minister noted the importance of receiving high-quality education abroad and mastering modern knowledge and skills to ensure Uzbekistan’s further prosperity and sustainable development.

Within the framework of the forum, bilateral agreements were also signed to expand cooperation by increasing the number of joint educational programs and research projects.
