Reserve in the foothills of the Kuhitang Mountains
The reserve located in the foothills of the Kuhitang Mountains in Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region covers 23,802 hectares.
Of these, more than 12,239 hectares are covered with vegetation, and over 900 plant species are found in the area.
The highest point in the Kuhitang system is Ayribobo Peak, at 3,137 meters.
Eighteen animal species inhabiting the reserve are listed in the Red List. Among them are the markhor and the Bukhara mountain sheep, which are considered rare species and are under special protection.
