The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, the Art and Culture Development Foundation, and the hokimiyats of Bukhara region and the city of Bukhara.
During the talks, the sides discussed preparations for an application to host the 19th Annual Conference of the Creative Cities Network in Bukhara in 2027.
This initiative was proposed by the President of Uzbekistan at the opening ceremony of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand in October 2025 and was included in the roadmap for cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO, signed on April 8 this year.
At the meeting, the Uzbek side noted that the proposal to hold this representative international conference in Bukhara, which will bring together more than 800 participants from more than 400 member cities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network from around the world, reflects Uzbekistan’s firm commitment to UNESCO’s values and programs, including the promotion of creativity, culture, and sustainable urban development.
The sides exchanged views on preparing a comprehensive application by the city of Bukhara to host the 2027 Annual Conference of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. UNESCO representatives provided information and recommendations on the main criteria for selecting the conference host city, as well as the key aspects and requirements for preparing the application.
