Processing of gold raw materials imported from Afghanistan has begun at Termiz Gold Production LLC, a company specializing in jewelry manufacturing and located in the Termez International Trade Center free economic zone.
In this regard, Head of the Surkhandarya Regional Customs Administration I. Gulomov met with company executives and representatives of an Afghan gold mining company to exchange views on the placement of raw materials under the customs processing regime and its advantages. It was also noted that this initiative will play an essential role in enhancing the region’s industrial potential, developing the jewelry industry, and increasing export volumes.

According to the Regional Customs Administration, the project implemented at the initiative of the regional administration and the leadership of the Customs Committee has created favorable conditions for processing gold raw materials, previously transported in transit from Afghanistan to other countries, within the customs territory of Surkhandarya region under the processing regime, producing semi-finished jewelry products and exporting them as high-value-added goods. This will also increase the oasis’s investment attractiveness, simplify customs procedures, and create greater value added in the region.
At the initial stage of the project, 20 kilograms of gold raw materials worth $2.9 million were allocated for processing.
