Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan hold the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council
At the Kuksaroy residence, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held talks in a narrow format and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.
The issues related to deepening the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were considered.
The President of Uzbekistan highlighted that the ongoing state visit by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a historic occasion.

“This will be confirmed by the signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship after the summit. Most importantly, all aspects of our strategic partnership and alliance are being turned into concrete actions”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated.
The leaders noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations. Close contacts have been established among the parliaments, governments, and sectoral agencies.

As part of preparations for the visit, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Business Council, and the Forum of Regions was successfully held.
Over the past five years, bilateral trade has tripled. Cooperation projects are being implemented across the energy, chemical, mining, and textile industries, agriculture, urban development, and other areas.
Opportunities were identified to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion. A program with specific measures to achieve this important target will provide the basis for this.

New cooperation projects will be launched during the meeting. The importance of actively using the Joint Investment Company’s resources to support these initiatives was emphasized.
The need to strengthen connectivity between the two countries and to jointly develop the Middle Corridor was highlighted.

The leaders agreed to continue active exchanges in culture, education, youth policy, and sports.
Today, the new building of the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan named after Nizami Ganjavi will be inaugurated, and construction of Azerbaijan Park in New Tashkent will begin.

To further bring the two peoples closer together, it was proposed to produce a joint film titled “Literary Bridge Between Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi”.
The second Forum of Rectors of leading universities will be held in Azerbaijan this autumn.
In 2027, the two countries will host an important sporting event – the FIFA U-20 World Cup. In this context, the countries will develop a large-scale “Two Countries – One Championship” program featuring joint sporting, cultural, and youth events.

The Heads of State also exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
Reports from the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission were heard.
It was decided to adopt a roadmap to ensure the timely, high-quality implementation of the agreements reached.
Following the meeting, the leaders launched joint projects across banking and finance, construction materials production, education, the oil and gas industry, tourism, housing construction, mining, and agriculture.
