President Shavkat Mirziyoyev begins his Samarkand visit at Imam Bukhari Mausoleum
Continuing a longstanding tradition, the Head of State began his visit to Samarkand at the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex, where verses from the Quran were recited and prayers were offered.
During the visit, the President was briefed on progress in implementing his instructions to ensure the complex’s effective use, enhance its tourism potential, and promote Islamic education and pilgrimage tourism by preserving, studying, and promoting Imam Bukhari’s rich scholarly legacy internationally.

The President emphasized the need to continue these efforts consistently.
“This great scholar left us a legacy of knowledge and scholarship. By building on it, we can achieve even more.
Whenever I visit the mausoleum of our great ancestor, I pray for our people’s well-being and for prosperity to grow in every family.
We will do even more to preserve and promote the legacy of our great ancestors. We will create all the conditions needed for people from around the world to visit the Islamic Civilization Center of Uzbekistan and the Imam Bukhari Complex”, the President said.

Rebuilt at the President’s initiative, the memorial complex is one of the Islamic world’s most sacred sites and continues to draw pilgrims from Uzbekistan and abroad. It once accommodated up to 12,000 visitors a day. Today, that figure exceeds 65,000.

A mosque that accommodates 10,000 worshippers, a grand mausoleum, four 75-meter minarets and blue domes give the complex its distinctive grandeur. An innovative museum, equipped with advanced information technologies, provides extensive insights into the history of Islam, the lives of the prophets and the work of Imam Bukhari, the renowned hadith compiler. It also houses unique exhibits.

The complex now provides all the necessary facilities for pilgrims, and its services meet international standards. More than 20 modern hotels operate on its premises.
