President reviews development projects in Bukhara

During his visit to Bukhara, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev became familiar with the project to build a new airport in the city.

Transport infrastructure is being consistently developed in the country. New roads and bridges are being built, and additional conveniences are being created for passengers. Notably, in 2024, during his visit to Bukhara region, the Head of State instructed the construction of a new international airport in Bukhara to develop the region’s tourism potential.

A total of 370 hectares of land outside the city have been allocated for the construction of this transportation facility and its associated infrastructure. As part of the project, a road leading to the airport is also being built. Its total length will be 23.8 kilometers, of which 2.7 kilometers will be a new section and 21.1 kilometers will be reconstructed. In addition, the construction of 2 overpasses, 9 underground pedestrian crossings, and 8 bridges is envisaged along the route.

According to the project, the new airport will include a 3.3-kilometer runway capable of accommodating all types of aircraft, as well as a passenger terminal complex with a capacity of up to 1,200 people per hour.

“We intend to build an airport that will provide modern, comfortable services for residents of Bukhara region and for domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, it must fully comply with international standards”, the President noted.

The Head of State was also provided with information on other construction projects intended to enhance Bukhara region’s economic, investment, and tourism potential.
