President of Uzbekistan outlines priorities for cooperation with the Export-Import Bank of Korea
During the state visit to the Republic of Korea, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Hwang Ki-yeon, Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of Korea.
The meeting was also attended by Kwon Yi-kyun, President of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM), and Bum Sung Kim, Principal Researcher of the Korea Institute of Rare Metals (KIRAM).
The parties noted with satisfaction the long-standing and fruitful cooperation with the bank and its funds across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, critical materials, education, and transportation.

The Head of State supported the signing of a new partnership program worth $8 billion. The parties also reviewed measures to accelerate projects to supply high-speed trains, establish a Bio Center, process critical minerals, and develop digital technologies.

Particular attention was paid to establishing a Women’s Entrepreneurship Center in the Aral Sea region and to attracting Korean financial institutions and companies to the project to build a new Tashkent – Samarkand railway.
The parties noted with satisfaction the launch of a joint fund to finance projects in the critical minerals field. It was proposed to develop a project to establish a Center for Semiconductor and New Materials Design and Testing.

The active involvement of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources and the Korea Institute of Rare Metals in these projects was highlighted.
