A presentation of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy was held at the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies.
The event was organized by the Development Strategy Center, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, and the Consulate General in Shanghai.
The presentation was attended by professors and experts from the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies, the Institute of East European, Russian and Central Asian Studies at Shanghai International Studies University, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University, the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and others.

Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center, Eldor Tulyakov, presented the priority areas, primary goals, and objectives of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy. Special attention was given to increasing the production of high value-added goods, developing the digital economy, attracting foreign investment, and reforming the social sector, including improvements to the education and healthcare systems, enhancing the well-being of the population, creating equal opportunities for youth and women, advancing the green economy, ensuring the rational management of water resources and environmental protection, as well as maintaining stability in Central Asia, promoting cross-border cooperation, and developing a balanced approach to foreign policy.
According to the Development Strategy Center, participants noted that the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy is a document that defines the priority directions not only of the country’s domestic but also foreign policy, encompassing both economic and social aspects of national development. Uzbekistan’s efforts to join the group of upper-middle-income countries, along with the modernization of its education, healthcare, and social protection systems, open up broad opportunities for Chinese investors.

Following the presentation, a meeting took place between the Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center, Eldor Tulyakov, and the Executive Dean of Shanghai Academy of Global Government and Area Studies, Professor Yang Cheng. They held an in-depth discussion on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the area of joint research initiatives.
An agreement was reached to draft and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Development Strategy Center and the Shanghai Academy of Global Government and Area Studies shortly.
