Deputy Hokim of Samarkand region Khurshidbek Samiyev participated in a business forum and in meetings with entrepreneurs from both countries, held as part of the official visit of the Head of State to Japan.
In particular, the President of Japan’s Okamoto Corporation, Ryutaro Okamoto, and Mr. Samiyev focused on expanding trade and economic ties and implementing joint investment projects. They discussed the ongoing construction of a hosiery factory in Samarkand, covering the entire process – from cotton cultivation to finished-goods production.
At a meeting with Hiroyuki Ito, who for many years served as Consul of Uzbekistan in Nagoya Prefecture, the Deputy Hokim of Samarkand region exchanged views on attracting potential Japanese entrepreneurs and major companies to Samarkand and on implementing joint investment projects. Mr. Samiev proposed establishing a free economic zone for Japanese entrepreneurs in Bulungur district.

As part of the visit to Japan, the Deputy Hokim of Samarkand region also met with Chinori Tokita, the representative of Masui in Uzbekistan.
This company produces towels and other textile products in Japan under the Samarqandaryo trademark using raw materials supplied from Samarkand.
At the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation, new project proposals, and a visit by company representatives to Samarkand region in February 2026. Agreements were reached to organize the production of textile and knitwear products in Samarkand region.
